NPLCC supports people of all ages in Bridlington, an area ranked in the top 10% most deprived nationally and in the top 30% for overall deprivation, where thousands of residents face significant disadvantage. We provide a safe space to build relationships and tackle poverty, isolation, and wellbeing. 

New Pasture Lane’s Impact

The New Pasture Lane Community Centre (NPL) supports communities of all ages in Bridlington, providing a safe space that creates positive, caring relationships based on trust and respect. Support includes providing a range of general support and activities such as, luncheon clubs, a social supermarket, parent and baby sessions and a host of trips and social events to build a stronger community amongst the residents. The centre is dedicated to alleviating food poverty, fostering dreams, and nurturing unity among its local community. This is a place where laughter mingles with tears, and cohesion binds everyone together, creating community spirit. Through every shared meal and heartfelt embrace, NPL open the gate to a world where no one feels weak or alone. 

The main differences we aim to make are:
• Providing safe, happy, caring, secure and positive environment for the community to come together, build social cohesion through social gatherings breaking down the barriers to loneliness and isolation.
• Providing affordable, convenient, dependable services and events to help all residents address challenges, building resilience improving mental health and wellbeing.
• Enabling all residents to develop their capabilities and learning experiences through volunteering opportunities, improving employability chances.
• Maintaining a strong foundation of partnerships with the community to ensure quality referral pathways to address bespoke needs, providing help, support, and hope to those facing crisis, and giving them the right support.

Delivery & Results (Actual vs Target)


✅ Reach & Beneficiaries
Target: 8,000 people p.a.
Actual: 8,829 attendances (3,000+ unique individuals)
• Bread Shed Pantry: 310 households (554 adults, 300 children)
• Hot meals served: 4,656
• Activities: 5,479 attendances across all sessions


One person shared: “The pantry has taken the worry away from me, not being able to get essential groceries.”


✅ Break down loneliness & isolation:
Actual: Wide range of social activities: Lunch Clubs, Crafty Club, Baby Breakfast, Drop-ins.
Impact: 82% of users reported feeling less isolated / more connected.


✅ Affordable services – resilience & wellbeing:

One person shared: “I go to Crafty Monday and have been to bingo, always met with friendly faces, food is amazing too. Everyone at New Pasture Lane is there and ready to help where they can….. 😊 All amazing, thank you for making me feel welcome.”

Actual: Low-cost/free provision including health, fitness and mental health support:
• Fitness Friday: 1,690 attendees over 12 months
• Parkinson’s Class: 910 attendees over 12 months
• Andy’s Man Club: 1,380 attendees (46 sessions, 30 men weekly)
• Affordable access: £1 activities, £3.50 lunches
Note: Figures include repeat visits; the same individuals access our services many times throughout the year, demonstrating the Centre’s essential role in their daily lives. Impact: 76% reported improved mental wellbeing/ability to cope by sharing feedback through polls, feedback forms, testimonials, social media and face-to-face conversations. 


✅ Volunteering, skills & employability
Target: Recruit 10 volunteers
Actual: 12 recruited | 28 active volunteers
Total hours: 7,280 hours (140 hrs./week)
Outcomes: 4 volunteers progressed to training/employment. Roles include food redistribution, admin, events, building confidence and work skills.


✅ Partnerships, referrals & crisis support
Actual: D-VAP, Real Aid, ERFPA, Probation, Local Schools, Local Independent Businesses, Supermarkets, Christ Church, St. Mark’s Church, Our Lady and St. Peter Church, Priory Church, Together Women, The Hinge Centre. Cheery Tree Centre.
• Crisis support: 27 families/individuals given intensive 1:1 help.
• Referrals: 42 signposts to debt advice, homelessness, health, addiction and benefits support.
